Last year, Sustainability Matters was thrilled to be one of the winners of Project for Awesome (P4A)—an incredible accomplishment for a small grassroots nonprofit and for everyone who believes in the importance of native ecosystems!

We're back this year, raising money to launch our newest initiative: Making History Bloom. In partnership with NOVA Parks, Sustainability Matters aims to revitalize Northern Virginia's W&OD Trail by replacing invasive species with native wildflower meadows. This project not only provides critical habitat for wildlife in an area increasingly dominated by housing developments and data centers but also educates its 3 million annual visitors on the importance of native plants and wildlife corridors.

Community involvement is key, with plans to collaborate with local schools, host public events, and expand programs like EcologiGALS along the trail.
