The HOSPICE Casa Speranței foundation is a non-profit organization founded in Brașov in 1992. The foundation introduced the concept of palliative care in Romania and represents the biggest organization nation-wide offering this type of services free of charge. HOSPICE Casa Speranței operates two hospitals with integrated services in Brașov and in Bucharest, a socio-medical centre for children in Adunații Copăceni, home-care teams in five locations – Bucharest, Brașov, Zărnești, Făgăraș, Giurgiu, it has six locations dedicated to offering palliative care and education, and over 100 beds for inpatient care and related activities, dedicated to caring for patients with an incurable illness. HOSPICE developed complete palliative care services, offered in day centres, outpatient and inpatient units, at the patients’ homes, as well as in partner hospitals. Throughout its 33 years of service, HOSPICE brought comfort and relief to more than 55.000 children and adult patients, as well as to more than 110.000 of their family members.
